LawMatters is a Courthouse Libraries BC outreach program for public libraries. We work in partnership with libraries to provide local access to legal information in print, as well as legal reference and referral services in communities throughout the province. Together, we strive to improve British Columbians’ access to legal information and justice.

Program history
The program was established in 2007, and historically the focus has been to distribute grant funding to libraries to purchase print legal resources, share our subject expertise to support public librarians to build and maintain their legal collections, and offer training on providing legal reference and referral services.
Additional funding from the Law Foundation has allowed the LawMatters program to grow, enabling us to support people’s access to legal information in public libraries throughout hundreds of communities in BC.
