Rangefindr

Courthouse Libraries BC maintains a subscription to Rangefindr. Rangefindr is the Canadian sentencing research database designed to save you time when you want  to find criminal sentencing ranges fast.

How it works

Select from predefined tags in order to describe the type of case that you would like to research. There are tags available to describe the situation of the accused, the details of the case, the offence and more. When you're done, Rangefindr will return results of the sentences that were imposed for similar cases. You can also continue on to read the judgement.

Where to find it

On-site

Rangefindr is available on-site on any Courthouse Library Public Access Computer.

Remote Access to Subscription Databases

Rangefindr is a part of the Courthouse Libraries free online library available to BC lawyers, articling students and notaries. To enjoy remote access to Rangefindr you must have a Courthouse Library account with remote access.

If you don't have a website account you can visit registration to sign up and request access, in addition lawyers can now use their Law Society digital member credential to login without creating a CLBC website account by visiting Remote Access to Subscription Databases.

If you would like to ask Courthouse Libraries librarians to perform searches of Rangefindr on your behalf, please contact us by email or phone at:
