If you don’t already take advantage of Courthouse Libraries BC’s plethora of online services, you might be missing out on some fantastic legal research tools – and it’s all free for lawyers in BC.
Our mission is to provide you with the legal resources, librarian expertise, and informed referrals to help you research and manage your or a client’s legal issues.
So why not make legal research and practice easier by using our services and cutting costs at the same time!
- Access subscription databases remotely using your digital credentials issued by the Law Society of BC. This new option is a quicker and safer way to log into HeinOnline, rangefinder, and Irwin Law – and it’s all free.
- Visit a CLBC library for even more subscription databases at no cost, like CLE Online, Lexis Advance Quicklaw, Quickscribe, WestlawNext Canada.
- Need to keep up on the latest? We offer training events and webinars, many of which qualify for CPD credits with the Law Society of BC. We have also archived the webinars for those who couldn’t view them live.
- Connect with your colleagues on Lawbster or the Family Law Organizer, to learn from and support others. This closed online community platform is free to professionals who meet the criteria, hosted in Canada, and managed by CLBC.
- Are you a family law lawyer? Chief Justice Robert J Bauman has encouraged lawyers to read our Family Law Unbundling Toolkit to learn how best to perform discrete tasks for clients while they handle other tasks in their legal cases.
- Save time on research with CLBC’s short videos and cheat sheets on how to use digital research tools.
Courthouse Libraries BC not only provides great in-person library assistance and resources, we also offer excellent online tools and databases to assist legal professionals and the public and increase access to legal information.
