CLBC announces: Clicklaw website now more modern and easier to navigate

Courthouse Libraries BC is excited to share its newly redesigned Clicklaw service with the public, especially anyone who is trying to do their own legal research.

The digital service links the public (and their community helpers) to accessible, relevant and understandable legal resources. It’s also a benefit to legal professionals, who often refer clients to the site to get an understanding of legal issues and processes, or to help them self-manage legal issues when finances are a barrier.

Clicklaw was originally launched 15 years ago as an online library of public legal education and information for BC. The new Clicklaw service takes that a step further by focusing on helping people resolve their legal problems.

What makes Clicklaw special is the expertise of CLBC’s law librarians, who select and organize the content.

The site is divided into 8 legal topics for individuals facing a legal issue:

  • Civil Court & Alternatives
  • Crime & Victims
  • Employment
  • Family
  • Housing & Tenancy
  • Money, Debt & Consumer
  • Rights & Citizenship
  • Wills, Estates & Planning

Within a topic, people can choose answers to common legal questions, go to sub-topics to find more resources, and find legal service providers that may be able to help them.

If you haven’t had the chance to see Clicklaw’s modern new look, please check it out now -- and help us connect people to the right resources for their legal questions.
