Daylight Saving Time in BC
Last revised November 03, 2021

The Daylight Saving Time RegulationBC Regulation No. 136/2006, sets out the time and date of daylight saving time in BC. According to that regulation, in British Columbia daylight savings time commences at 2 o'clock in the forenoon on the second Sunday of March and ends at 2 o'clock in the forenoon on the first Sunday of November. The regulation is made under the authority of the Interpretation Act, R.S.B.C. 1996 c.238, section 26. The Miscellaneous Statutes Amendment Act, S.B.C. 2018 c. 5, section 4 repealed and substituted new text for section 26 of the Interpretation Act, which states that "Pacific Daylight Savings Time" means 7 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time and "Pacific Standard Time" means 8 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time.

In 2019 the BC Government passed Bill 40, Interpretation Amendment Act 2019, which would end the use of Daylight Savings Time in BC. Although it received royal assent on Nov. 28, 2019, no sections of this act have been brought into force by the Lieutenant Governor as of Nov. 3, 2021.
