The Rutherford Formula is developed from the B.C. Court of Appeal case Rutherford v. Rutherford, (1981) 127 D.L.R. (3d) 658, [1981] 6 W.W.R. 485, 30 B.C.L.R. 145, 23 R.F.L. (2d) 337.
It is a method of dividing a pension between spouses when they get divorced.
