Where can I find contaminated sites information?
Last revised September 07, 2022

Legislation governing contaminated sites can be found in Part 4 - Contaminated Sites Remediation of the Environmental Management Act , SBC 2003, c. 53, and the Contaminated Sites Regulation (BC Reg 375/96).

The Site Remediation Section of the Ministry of Environment & Climate Change administers the provisions for the investigation and remediation of contaminated sites in British Columbia under the Act and Regulation.

They focus on the remediation of brownfields, orphan sites and complex, high risk contaminated sites, and facilitate the remediation of low and medium risk sites.

They also manage the Site Registry, provide operational and procedural contaminated sites guidance, and administer the site screening process using site profiles. You can access the Site Registry through BC Online

Find reports, forms, standards, policies, protocols and procedures, as well as legal decisions pertaining to the Contaminated Sites Regulation at the Contaminated Sites Guidance & Resources page of their website.
