The BC Family Maintenance Agency (BCFMA) is a free service run by the BC Ministry of Attorney General to enforce child and spousal support orders and agreements. The program acts to collect the amount owing under orders or agreements, including arrears, and can consist of tracking payments, garnishing wages, bank accounts, and federal sources of income.
If there is a garnishing order on your federal monies, you can call the Family Orders and Agreements Enforcement Assistance Unit's toll free number, 1-800-267-7777 for an automated information system that provides debtors, creditors and the general public with assistance on the garnishment of federal monies by provincial or territorial governments, the administration of a garnishment order, how a garnishment order is cancelled or suspended and how to reduce or cancel a garnishment order.
Service is provided in English and French.
