Quebec does not have a Limitations Act. As per article 3131 of the Civil Code of Quebec, prescription is governed by the law applicable to the merits of the dispute. Thus a prescribed time period for commencement of a certain type of action may be found in the statute or section of the Civil Code dealing with that particular area of law.
All rights and actions not otherwise regulated by law are extinguished in 10 years (Civil Code of Quebec, article 2922).
