Regulations Act, 1983
Last revised January 29, 2024

In 1983, a new Regulations Act, SBC 1983, c.10, changed the definition of "regulation" with the result that a number of orders, bylaws and board rules (Health Boards were particularly affected) formerly filed as regulations were no longer considered as such, and were no longer published in the BC Gazette.

The changes were based substantially on the Uniform Regulations Act of the Uniform Law Conference of Canada.

So, if you are doing some historical research and can't find any regulations under an act, or a regulation you are researching seems to disappear around 1983, this is why.

Case in point:

Regulations made under the Physiotherapists Act appear in the Index of Current BC Regulations until June 1983, after which they are summarily dropped.
